Tidal Potomac and Anacostia Rivers PCB TMDL

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Tidal waters of the Potomac River and several of its tributaries, including the Anacostia River, were placed on the 303(d) impaired waters lists of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia for elevated fish tissue levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). To address the impairments, the following total maximum daily load (TMDL) was developed under coordination between the US Environmental Protection Agency, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Maryland Department of the Environment, and the District Department of the Environment and approved on October 31, 2007.

The following documents include TMDLs for PCBs for the tidal portions of the Potomac and Anacostia rivers.
