Department of Environment Co-Hosts the DC Environmental Initiatives Pavilion at the 2006 DC Green Festival

Washington, DC) The new District Department of Environment (DDOE) and Global Exchange and CO-OP America will co-host the DC Environment Pavilion at the 2006 Green Festival. This annual event will showcase more than 120 environmental speakers and over 350 green businesses, as well as workshops, "green" films, organic cuisine, and live music. The Green Festival unites environmental and social justice partners to encourage economic stability and community vitality.

The Green Festival will feature two days of socially responsible shopping, options for green living, and renowned speakers and industry leaders at the Washington Convention Center on Saturday October 14, from 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday October 15, from 11 am to 6 pm. The event is one of the biggest and brightest celebrations of America's growing sustainability-based economy. The Washington Convention Center is located at 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW.

The DC Environmental Initiatives Pavilion will be a highlight at this event. Agencies from throughout the District government will use this platform to inform Festival attendees of the wide array of environmental initiatives that are taking place in Washington, DC. Educational seminars and workshops addressing energy efficiency and commercial and residential recycling will also be presented.
