DOEE to Hold Public Meeting on Anacostia River Clean Up Activities

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – April 13, 2016 — In March 2016, the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) released the Anacostia River Sediment Project Draft Phase One Remedial Investigation Report, representing a significant milestone in the District’s efforts to address contamination in the Anacostia River. The goal of the remedial investigation is to confirm the extent and location of contamination in the river, and to evaluate potential risks contaminants pose to human health and the environment.

The Draft Phase One Remedial Investigation Report is now available for public review and comment. As part of DOEE’s commitment to promoting open dialogue and keeping the public informed throughout the life of this project, the agency will hold a public meeting on April 20 to present the report’s findings and to provide an update on current and future clean-up activities.
