Thursday, November 19, 2015

New one-stop website connects residents to full- and part-time green jobs and internships.

WASHINGTON, DC, November 19, 2015—Today, the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) launched Green Pathways, a new online portal to connect residents with full-time and part-time green employment, internships, fellowships, volunteer opportunities, and summer jobs at DOEE. Through this program, DOEE anticipates hiring more than 60 full-time and part-time employees during the 2016 fiscal year.

Committed to providing individuals with the opportunity to learn, gain valuable experience, and develop skills to help them progress in their education and career, DOEE’s Green Pathways has opportunities for individuals with varying levels of education, skills, and experience. This program enables interested applicants to apply for current green employment opportunities or submit a resume for future opportunities.

Through Green Pathways, DOEE has just launched its Green Fellows program and is accepting applications for its inaugural cohort. Graduate students enrolled in higher education institutions within the District of Columbia are eligible and are encouraged to apply. Areas of responsibility will include research and policy, writing and editing, and project management. Each Green Fellow’s term culminates in a final presentation to the DOEE director and senior staff.

Green PathwaysDOEE is the leading authority on energy and environmental issues affecting the District of Columbia. The mission of the agency is to improve the quality of life for the residents and natural inhabitants of the nation’s capital by protecting and restoring the environment, conserving natural resources, mitigating pollution, increasing access to clean and renewable energy, and educating the public on ways to secure a sustainable future.
