DOEE AND NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY KICK OFF EARTH WEEK WITH “THE BIRDS & THE BEES: CELEBRATING NATURE IN FILM” ON APRIL 18

Free environmental film event brings global issues into local focus for Earth Day

(WASHINGTON, DC) April 18, 2016 – Tonight, the DOEE and the National Geographic Society will host an evening of short environmental films where artists, scientists, advocates, and everyday people share stories that cross boundaries and give a new voice to our planet and to our wild, wonderful city. Following the screenings, DOEE Director Tommy Wells will lead a panel discussion with several representatives of the films. DOEE will also release the Sustainable DC 2016 Progress Report at tonight’s event. All attendees will receive a complimentary reusable “Explore the Anacostia” swag bag, with a copy of the Progress Report, BioBlitz info, and a packet of pollinator plant seeds. This event is free and open to the public; RSVP is required.
