Monitoring for Trash in District Waters

DOEE seeks eligible entities to develop and implement a monitoring program for trash in the District's waterbodies. DOEE is interested in innovative methods for monitoring trash conditions.  The results from this project will help assess the effectiveness of the District’s efforts to reduce trash in local waterbodies and guide future trash reduction efforts.  Approximately $95,000.00 in funding is available.

Beginning 4/8/2016, the full text of the Request for Applications (RFA) will be available on DOEE’s website. A person may obtain a copy of this RFA by any of the following means:

Pick up a copy in person from the DOEE reception desk, located at 1200 First Street NE, 5th Floor, Washington, DC 20002.  To make an appointment, call Matt Robinson at (202) 442-3204 and mention this RFA by name.

Write DOEE at 1200 First Street NE, 5th Floor, Washington, DC 20002, “Attn: Matt Robinson RE:2016-1605-SWMD” on the outside of the envelope.

The deadline for application submission is 5/9/2016, at 4:30 p.m.  Five hard copies must be submitted to the above address and a complete electronic copy must be e-mailed to [email protected].

Eligible entities include: nonprofit organizations, including those with IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) determinations; government agencies; and universities/educational institutions.

Q1: Is this grant specifically targeted for the Anacostia watershed and waterways, or is this open to all watersheds in DC such as Rock Creek?
A1: This grant opportunity is targeted for all of the District’s watersheds.
