Fines and Enforcement - Office of Enforcement and Environmental Justice

The mission of DOEE’s Office of Enforcement and Environmental Justice (OEEJ) is to conserve and protect the air, land, water, and natural resources of the District of Columbia and to ensure a safe and healthy environment by developing and implementing environmental enforcement policies and procedures, supporting DOEE’s enforcement programs, managing DOEE’s civil infractions program and serving as the agency contact for enforcement matters involving U.S. EPA Region 3.

OEEJ also promotes environmental justice in enforcement decisions and supports DOEE’s work to ensure that District low-income, minority, or limited English proficiency residents have meaningful opportunities to participate in DOEE environmental decision making.
