DC imports 97% of its electricity from other states along a network of high-voltage transmission lines. Recently, the cost of transmission service to DC has been rising significantly. This study, prepared by Synapse Energy Economics, provides an overview of transmission planning and analyzes the reasons for rising transmission costs in DC.
