Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

Last Date:

Location:
Multiple Locations
Details:

Each year the District participates in Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. We encourage individuals and organizations to join this effort to raise awareness among District residents about the need to detect and prevent exposure to lead.

Lead poisoning remains a serious health concern in the District, and children under six years of age are most at risk. Children exposed to lead-contaminated paint, dust, soil, or water may suffer problems with learning, behavior, and growth that can’t be reversed.

What’s the good news? Lead poisoning is preventable. Read more in the Lead Poisoning Prevention Week Tool Kit available in six additional languages attached at the bottom of this page.
