Benefits of Energy Storage in DC

Energy storage can provide a range of benefits for DC. This analysis, prepared by experts at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, drills down into one set of benefits: the ways in which energy storage can help lower electricity costs.  

DC buys most of its electricity through wholesale power markets administered by PJM, the regional grid operator for the mid-Atlantic. Recently, prices associated with PJM’s electricity markets have been increasing. This study analyzes the potential for energy storage to reduce costs associated with buying power from PJM.
