Eight-Part Documentary Series Tells How District Solar For All Program Fights Climate Change, Helps Residents
(WASHINGTON, DC) – The Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) announces that the Ward 6 film company, Pendragwn Productions, will be vying next month for an Emmy Award for the DCSolarStories Documentary. The 8-part #DCSolarStories series celebrates how District Government, in collaboration with building developers, low-income housing organizations and residents, is working to achieve Mayor Bowser’s Solar For All target to provide 100,000 low- to moderate-income families with solar energy. The award winners will be announced on Saturday, August 8, 2020.
The District’s Solar for All program is one of the most progressive solar mandates in the United States. #DCSolarStories exhibits how the District is using innovation and equal access to local, clean energy to lower the energy burden for our most vulnerable residents and protect underserved communities in the face of our changing climate. Mayor Bowser, Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh and DOEE Director Tommy Wells are among the stakeholders who explain how much the program has helped District households.
“The subject of installing green renewable energy on behalf of our lower income residents could not be more important, so I’m thrilled our partnership with Pendragwn is being recognized for artistic achievement,” said DOEE Director Tommy Wells. “The #DCSolarStories documentary is a testament of the District’s commitment to fight against climate change by using bold initiatives and to get our residents on the pathway to the middle class through lower utility bills and increased employment opportunities.”
The Emmy® Award is the premier television production award presented in various sectors of the television industry, including entertainment programming, news and documentary shows, and sports programming. Pendragwn Productions is one of eight nominees in the Public/Current/Community Affairs - Feature/Segment/Series category.
