District Observes National Child Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

The District Department of the Environment (DDOE) is pleased to announce the District Government’s participation in National Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Week October 25-31. This year’s theme is “What’s On Your Walls?”

  • Outreach and Screening Event at Mexican Consulate, 2829 16th Street NW, 9-11 a.m.
  • Lead-Safe DC Daycare Training at Mary’s Center, 2333 Ontario Road NW, 6-9 p.m.
  • Lead Mobile at Mexican Consulate, 9-11 a.m. (Free blood testing for children under age 6.)

Tuesday, Oct. 27:

  • Housing Counseling Services Lead Poisoning Prevention Workshop in English and Spanish at Harriet Tubman Elementary, 3101 13th Street NW, 9-10:30 a.m.
  • HUD’s 2003 Lead-Safe Housing Rule Renovation and Repair Class in Spanish at 2410 17th Street NW, Suite 100, 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Table Display at 825/941 North Capitol Street NE, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Lead Mobile at Safeway, 3830 Georgia Avenue NW, 12-3:30 p.m. (Free blood testing for children under age 6.)

Wednesday, Oct. 28:

  • Outreach and Screening Event at THEARC, 1901 Mississippi Avenue SE, 3-5 p.m.
  • School Screening and Outreach at Miner Elementary, 601 15th Street NE, 3:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Lead Mobile at Miner Elementary (Free blood testing for children under age 6.)

Thursday, Oct. 29:

  • Outreach and Screening Event at El Salvador Consulate, 2332 Wisconsin Avenue NW, 9-11 a.m.
  • Lead Safe Washington’s Grant Program Event at 1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Table Display at 825/941 North Capitol Street NE, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Lead Mobile at El Salvador Consulate, 9-11 a.m. (Free blood testing for children under age 6.)
