On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, the Air Quality Division (AQD) of the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) issued an air quality permit (No. 7193) to Roubin & Janeiro, Inc. to construct and operate a McCloskey R155 High Energy Screener, with up to three conveyors, powered by a 129 hp Caterpillar C4.4 diesel-fired engine at 4901 Shepherd Parkway SW, Washington DC 20032. On March 23, 2018, DOEE issued a public notice soliciting comments on a draft version of the permit. Comments were accepted through April 23, 2018. A public hearing on the matter was held on September 17, 2018 at the DOEE offices at 1200 First Street NE, Washington DC.
During the public comment period, DOEE received one set of written comments. One person testified at the public hearing.
DOEE has considered each of the comments received and has prepared responses to them. The comments and related review resulted in two changes to the language in the draft permit. Upon making the appropriate changes and responding to all comments, DOEE has deemed it appropriate to issue the revised permit to the applicant, Roubin & Janiero, Inc.
