DDOE is soliciting comments on a draft Urban Tree Canopy Plan. The Permit for the District’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System requires the District to develop a strategy to reduce the discharge of stormwater pollutants by expanding tree canopy throughout the city, and to make this strategy available for public review and comment. In accordance with this requirement, DDOE and the District Department of Transportation’s Urban Forestry Administration have developed a draft Urban Tree Canopy plan (available electronically below or by contacting (202) 741-2136). A formal notice of public comment will be published in an upcoming edition of the D.C. Register.

Public Comment
Comments on the draft plan must be filed in writing no later than 30 days after the publication of the formal notice in the D. C. Register. Comments should be clearly marked “Tree Canopy Plan” and either (1) mailed or hand-delivered to DDOE, Stormwater Management Division, 1200 First Street, N.E., 5th Floor, Washington, DC 20002, Attention: Tree Canopy Plan, or (2) emailed to [email protected].
