Voting for People’s Choice Awards will begin on August 15, 2017
(DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA) July 12, 2017 – The District Sustainability Awards, produced by the Department of Energy and Environment, recognize individuals, businesses, schools, institutions, and organizations for their environmental leadership. District of Columbia residents and employees may nominate their favorite sustainability champion or apply on their own.
To submit a nomination, visit sustainability awards; the deadline for nominations is August 1, 2017.
On August 15, DOEE will invite the public to vote for their favorite green business or organization for “People’s Choice.” This coveted honor is awarded based on the highest number of votes received, and successful review of the nominee’s compliance with green standards.
Past winners have been recognized for environmental stewardship, innovative best practices, pollution prevention, and resource conservation. A list of past winners is available online here.
