Prepares graduating seniors for skilled trades and facilities careers through hands‑on, supervised training in building systems, safety practices, and workforce readiness.
The Facilities Futures Program (FFP) is a 16‑week workforce readiness initiative that provides graduating seniors with hands‑on training in building systems, skilled trades fundamentals, and workplace safety. Students participate in supervised maintenance activities inside school facilities, such as inspections, basic repairs, preventative maintenance, and tool use. These activities reinforce classroom instruction in construction, electrical concepts, HVAC, and OSHA aligned safety practices.
Throughout the program, students move from introductory training to real‑world tasks, including patching drywall, painting, replacing filters, tightening locks, and documenting maintenance needs. They also explore entrepreneurship, professional expectations, and pathways into apprenticeships and employment, with opportunities to earn OSHA‑10, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
FFP connects students with industry professionals, including contractors, union representatives, and facilities managers, through guest lectures, job‑site visits, union tours, and career‑readiness workshops. Instruction is fully supervised, age appropriate, and aligned with DOES workforce development and safety guidelines.
Why it matters: FFP provides a clear workforce pathway into high demand skilled trades and facilities careers, giving students practical experience, certifications, and industry exposure that support immediate employment or entry into apprenticeships.
