Celebrate Earth Day in the District!
April 12:
- Ward 8 Woods is hosting their monthly Shephard Parkway Community Cleanup from 10:30am-1:00pm. See details on the Ward 8 Woods website.
- Join Friends of Anacostia Park, at Anacostia Park, for a community cleanup at 10:00am.
April 19:
- Join Anacostia Riverkeeper for their Earth Day Clean Waterways Cleanup from 9:30 am- 1:00 pm at Kenilworth Park to sort and clean out the Bandalong Litter Trap.
- The Potomac Conservancy is hosting cleanups at various sites throughout the month including their annual Earth Day trash cleanup at Anacostia Park from 9:00 am- 11:00 am.
- Join Good Projects DC for the Southwest Garden Fest from 12:00pm-4:00pm at the King Greenleaf Recreation Center.
- Join the Mayor’s Office of the Clean City at a cleanup in each Ward. See details.
April 26:
- Anacostia Watershed Society is hosting their annual series of cleanups at various sites. A few are highlighted below:
- Join DOEE from 11:00 am – 1:00pm at the Dix Street Bioretention. The Dix Street bioretention was constructed using funding from DOEE's Clean Water Construction Program.
- AWS is hosting a stream cleanup at the Nash Run Bandalong Trash Trap from 11:00am – 1:00pm.
- Join Ward 8 Woods at
- Join the Faunteroy Center and the Ward 7 Resilience Hub Community Coalition at Cesar Chavez for their 2025 Earth Day Cleanup from 10am-2pm.
- Join Potomac Riverkeeper Network, DOEE and their partners at the Oxon Cove Earth Day River Cleanup from 9:00 am- 3:00pm. In order to not over-crowd our volunteers, our event will be running with one shift from 9am - 11:30am and the other from 12pm - 2:30pm. See details.
May 3:
- Join Ward 8 Woods for their Suitland Parkway Volunteer Day from 10:30am to 1:30pm. On the first Saturday of each month, Ward 8 Woods deploys to a different part of the parkway to clean up trash and remove invasive vines.
