Climate Adaptation Planning - Vulnerability and Risk Assessment

Friday, July 1, 2016

The Vulnerability & Risk Assessment is based on data from the previously released Climate Projections & Scenario Development Report. Those scenarios include rising temperatures and more frequent and severe heat waves, increased frequency and intensity of heavy precipitation events, rising sea levels, and increased coastal flooding due to storm surge. The scenarios were used to conduct a “stress test” on the District’s infrastructure and resources.

Based on those climate scenarios, the project team used GIS mapping and conversations with District government agencies and stakeholders to evaluate the vulnerability of District infrastructure, public facilities, and populations to Climate Change impacts.
