Notice of Public Comment on the District’s Disposable Food Service Ware Requirements

DOEE is soliciting comments on proposed regulations for the District’s disposable food service ware requirements, which prohibit the use of food service products made of expanded polystyrene, commonly referred to as Styrofoam TM. The requirements were created by Title IV, Subtitle A of the Sustainable DC Omnibus Amendment Act of 2014. The proposed regulations establish guidelines for DOEE’s enforcement of the requirements and outline the course of appeal for entities that have been issued enforcement actions.

The comment period will last 30 days, ending at midnight on Monday, September 28, 2015. A formal notice of public comment will be published in the DC Register on August 28, 2015. Comments may be (1) mailed or hand-delivered to DOEE, 1200 First Street NE, 5th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20001, Attention: DOEE Foam Regulations, or (2) sent by e-mail to [email protected], with the subject indicated as “DOEE Foam Proposed Rule Comments.”
