The District's Air Quality Division works closely with a number of agencies and organizations within the region to ensure that air quality standards are adequately met:
EPA Region 3 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Mid-Atlantic Regional office is responsible for programs in the District of Columbia as well as Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. EPA Region 3's headquarters are located in Philadelphia, PA.
Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) - A regional organization of Washington area local governments that provides a focus for action and develops sound regional responses to issues.
Maryland Department of the Environment, Air and Radiation Programs - The pollution control agency for the state of Maryland.
Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division - The air pollution control agency for the state of Virginia.
Clean Air Partners - A nonprofit partnership chartered by MWCOG and the Baltimore Metropolitan Council that works with businesses, organizations and individuals throughout the region to raise awareness and reduce air pollution through voluntary actions.
Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Association (MARAMA) - A voluntary, nonprofit association of ten state and local air pollution control agencies that provides cost-effective approaches to regional collaboration by pooling resources to develop and analyze data, share ideas, and train staff to implement Clean Air Act requirements.
Mid-Atlantic/Northeast Visibility Union (MANEVU) - An entity formed by agencies to coordinate regional haze planning activities for the region.
Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) - A multi-state organization created under the Clean Air Act that advises EPA on transport issues, and develops and implements regional solutions to the ground-level ozone problem in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
National Association of Clean Air Agencies (NACAA) - A national association that informs state agencies about changes in Federal air policy, and encourages the exchange of information.
