Climate Change Photo Exhibit

Last Date:

Location:
Earth Conservation Corps Pump House - 1520 First Street, SE
Details:

a climate change-focused photography exhibit opens at the Earth Conservation Pump House. Photography was taken by District residents as part of a contest to demonstrate how residents are already seeing the impacts of—and solutions to—climate change in the District. The District is experiencing more frequent flooding, hotter temperatures, and increased precipitation with impacts expected to worsen, according to a report recently released by the Department of Energy and Environment. From a flooded Tidal Basin and kids cooling off from record temperatures to the 17th Street levy and green infrastructure to reduce stormwater runoff, these photographs capture the challenges and solutions of climate change—all through the eyes and words of District residents.

Several photographers from the contest will be in attendance at the opening to discuss their work, including Bruce McNeil and Misty Brown. Refreshments will be served. Photographs and exhibit information is available at sustainabledc.org/climatephotos. The exhibit will remain in the Pump House through June 8, 2016.
