WASHINGTON, DC, August 26, 2015—The Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) is making it easier to participate in its stormwater programs. DOEE has streamlined the design of its Stormwater Database, which is used to submit information for review of stormwater plans and to apply for Stormwater Retention Credit (SRC) trading and RiverSmart Rewards. This new layout is available immediately on an opt-in basis, and will become the default layout beginning on September 1.

The Stormwater Database is an innovative tool to track the impacts of runoff-reducing green infrastructure practices on the District’s waterbodies. The District’s stormwater regulations require large projects to install green infrastructure practices, and programs like SRC trading and RiverSmart Rewards provide incentives for voluntary green infrastructure installations. The SRC Registry, which lists SRCs for sale, is also available through the Stormwater Database.

“The District’s stormwater programs continue to serve as a national model,” said DOEE Director Tommy Wells. “With these enhancements to DOEE’s innovative Stormwater Database, it’s even easier to implement these programs and protect our waterbodies from harmful stormwater runoff.”

The Stormwater Database is available at http://doee.dc.gov/swdb. More information about the District’s stormwater regulations is available at http://doee.dc.gov/swregs
