Join DOEE Lead Compliance and Enforcement Branch for a webinar on lead compliance in rental properties built before 1978. This webinar will assist property owners and property managers comply with the District’s Lead Hazard Prevention and Elimination Act. The workshop will focus on compliance with District laws requiring property owners to provide their tenants with a completed District of Columbia Lead Disclosure form and Tenant Rights form. These requirements are detailed in District regulations found at 20 DCMR § 3313 (“Disclosure Requirements and Tenant Rights Form”).

The webinar will also include helpful information for complying with District laws requiring rental property owners to provide prospective and current tenants (as applicable) with a “clearance report,” as required by regulations found at 20 DCMR § 3314 (“Clearance Requirements at Change in Occupancy of Rental Units”).

Owners of pre-1978 residential properties in the District of Columbia are required to comply with the District’s lead poisoning prevention laws. The agenda will include:

    • How and when to properly complete the District of Columbia Lead Disclosure form;
    • How the District of Columbia Lead Disclosure form differs from the Federal Disclosure form;
    • How and when to complete the DC Tenant Right form; and
    • Clearance at change in occupancy of rental units; when is it required; who can conduct it; and what it consists of.
