DOEE's Office of Urban Agriculture administers funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide subawards to innovate research proposals that enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in the District.

DOEE partners with eligible entities through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program to fund projects that enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in the District. Specialty crops are defined as fruits and vegetables, dried fruit, tree nuts, horticulture, and nursery crops (including floriculture).
