Interns gain an understanding of the issues, work on prominent agency projects, and learn about career possibilities in the green economy.

The DOEE developed and implemented the DOEE Green Ready Internship Program (GRIP) as a part of the larger Green Zone Environmental Program (GZEP). DOEE administers the GRIP to provide a structured, paid training and meaningful work experience in the energy and environmental fields through an internship at DOEE. The GRIP begins immediatelyfollowing the end of the Green Zone Environmental Program’s Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program and lasts for a period of up to eight weeks.

Eligible applicants must be currently employed by the DOEE’s Green Zone Environmental Program and in good standing based upon the evaluation of the GZEP Project Coordinator. The application process begins during the six-week GZEP program and is concluded during that time frame.
