DOEE Announces $200K Available for Creative Stormwater Projects

Wednesday, December 13, 2017
Grants of up to $20,000 each will support community-oriented projects that improve the District’s waterways

(DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA) December 13, 2017—The Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) recently announced its Notice of Funding Availability (RFA) to award $200,000 in Community Stormwater Solutions Grants. DOEE anticipates awarding multiple grants of up to $20,000 each to applicants that respond to the RFA by 6:00 p.m. on January 26, 2018.

The purpose of these grants to provide start-up funding for community oriented and supported projects that improve the District's waterways. Another purpose is to build capacity among community-based organizations and small businesses. A special focus of this year’s RFA is projects that support the “Year of the Anacostia,” which commemorates the 100th year anniversary of Anacostia Park and the many events and milestones that will be celebrated along the river in 2018.

The application must educate a target audience, raise awareness, and lead to behavior change to improve the health of the District’s waterways, including reducing the impacts of stormwater runoff.

DOEE will host four pre-application informational meetings to give the community and organizations the opportunity to learn more about this grant opportunity before submitting a proposal.
  •  Thursday, December 14 at 1:00 p.m. at DOEE Headquarters, 1200 First Street NE
  • Monday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Anacostia Library, 1800 Good Hope Road SE | Ora Glover Community Room
  • Tuesday, January 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Shaw (Watha T. Daniel) Library – 1630 7th Street NW
