Washington DC was selected by Bloomberg Philanthropies as one of the cities to launch an exciting new initiative to support youth-led climate action projects. DOEE’s Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF) provides young residents ages 15–24 with microgrants to develop climate initiatives. The projects must be proposed, designed, and led by at least two young people in cooperation with eligible sponsor organizations. Funding will go directly to the organization, but the youth will be responsible for the budget.
Funding Details
Funding Available: $40,000
Maximum Award: $5,000 per project, a single organization may receive up to three microgrants for separate projects.
Estimated Number of Awards: 8 awards
Grant Period: November, 2026 – April 15, 2027
Application deadline: October 10, 2026.

Technical Assistance Session - Wednesday, September 23, 5:00 – 7:00 pm EST
DOEE will also host a technical assistance session to support youth with the development of their project ideas. DOEE encourages youth to bring project ideas to share with experts and get feedback.
