Register for the 2024 Anacostia Environmental Youth Summit TODAY!
Don’t delay; registration is due April 12, 2024.
Each year, approximately 400 District students attend the Anacostia Environmental Youth Summit. At this FREE outdoor event, students interact with environmental educators from numerous public and private organizations and engage in hands-on learning experiences, including Citizen Science BioBlitz and interpretive boat rides on the Anacostia River.

All activities support the following science standards:
- 4.7.10. Investigate the Chesapeake Bay watershed and wetlands and describe how they support a wide variety of plant and animal life that interact with other living and nonliving things.
- 5.12.2. Identify organisms that are not native to the Washington, DC, area and how they undergo changes to increase their chance of survival in the area.
- 6.6.7. Describe that most rainwater that falls in Washington, DC, will eventually drain into the Chesapeake Bay.
- 7.8.1. Recognize that in all environments, such as freshwater, marine, forest, desert, grassland, mountain, farms, cities, and others, organisms with similar needs and living strategies compete with one another for resources, including food, space, water, air, and shelter.
The Anacostia Environmental Youth Summit is a partnership effort among DOEE, Friends of Anacostia Park, many public and private environmental organizations, and several community-based organizations.
