Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

Last Date:

The theme of this year’s National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW), October 24–30, 2021, is Lead-Free Kids for a Healthy Future. We encourage individuals and organizations to join this effort to raise awareness among District residents about the need to detect and prevent exposure to lead.

Lead poisoning remains a serious health concern in the District, and children under six years of age are most at risk. Children exposed to lead-contaminated paint, dust, soil, or water may suffer problems with learning, behavior, and growth that can’t be reversed.
