Shad Fishing 101
Come learn how & where to fish Shad in the District.
Join us for Shad Fishing 101, an event designed for those who are trying to learn new skills to catch a new species! You'll receive a tour of the AREC, learn basic Shad fishing techniques, and discover the best local fishing spots for American and Hickory Shad.
The event also includes a hands-on activity where participants will get to create their own shad fishing rig to use on their next Shad fishing adventure!

Leadership Council for a Cleaner Anacostia River (LCCAR)
The LCCAR meets quarterly to discuss and advise on the District's Anacostia River Sediment Project (ARSP). Assembled in September 2014, the Leadership Council consists of 25 high-level local, state, and federal government officials and environmental leaders who support the Mayor's vision for a fishable and swimmable Anacostia River. Family Discovery Days - Aquatic Amore
Join us for a Valentine's Day themed educational aquatics program at DOEE's Aquatic Resources Education Center (AREC).
DOEE welcomes residents to join us on Friday, February 13, 10:30 - 12:00, for a free event focusing on the relationships between aquatic animals in the District. The event will consist of 3 educational, fun-filled activities.

Requirements:
- Anglers ages 16-64 must possess a DC fishing license
- All participants must sign a waiver and release form

DOEE biologists will be hosting a Community Fishing Event at Diamond Teague Park on the Anacostia River. DOEE staff will provide all the gear and equipment required to have a successful day of fishing fun!
