On Monday, September 29th DDOE will host a presentation on Weatherization and Utility Discounts. The meeting takes place at 1pm at the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center, 3531 Georgia Avenue, NW, 20010.
*Free and open to DC seniors 60 years of age and older.
On Tuesday, September 23rd DDOE will join the monthly neighborhood meeting to provide Energy and Weatherization information and demonstrations. The meeting takes place at 7pm at the Trinidad Recreation Center, 1350 Childress Street, NE.
Trinidad neighborhood residents will be provided practical advice and information on reducing home heating and cooling bills. Additionally, residents will receive a training demonstration on basic installation of weatherization items such as plastic window covers, caulking etc.

On Saturday, September 20th look for the DDOE / Sustainable DC exhibit and information table at the H Street Festival. The event takes place from 12:00pm - 8:00pm along the H Street NE corridor, from 4th to 14th Streets. In Washington, DC.
Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital Gold Award – Candidate Energy Fair
On Thursday, September 11th look for the DDOE exhibit and information table at the Green Living Expo DC. The event takes place from 12:00pm - 8:00pm at University of the District of Columbia’s Dennard Plaza, 4200 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20008. Nearly 50 exhibitors will be on hand to help attendees discover why D.C. is becoming the model of a sustainable city. Green businesses, energy-saving devices, green roofs, locally grown food, urban forests, urban biking, and green infrastructure are a few of the topics and services that will be featured.
On Saturday, September 6th DDOE will host an exhibit and information table at the Generations Community Festival. The event will take place 10:00am – 4:00pm at Gateway Pavilion, 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20032. A day of fun for the entire Family! Featured events include: Exhibitors, Resources, Health & Fitness Activities, Live Music, Kids Activities, Food Pavilion, Vendors and lots more.
On Saturday, August 23rd DDOE’s and Sustainable DC will team-up to volunteer for this annual citywide “spruce up” of all DC public school buildings in preparation for the first day of school. Some of the tasks include: general cleaning, planting flowers, trimming bushes, painting exterior doors, sorting library books, etc. Interested volunteers should register.

DDOE will host an exhibit and information table at the 5th Annual Fairmont Hotel Sustainability Fair. The event will take place 11:30am – 2:00pm at the Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown. 2401 M Street, NW Washington, D.C. 20027. This annual event showcases the sustainable efforts of many DC-based organizations and is a great way to educate the community on what eco-efforts are being made in the city.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- The District Department of the Environment (DDOE), last week, debuted its Simple Application for qualifying properties to receive discounts on stormwater impervious fees through the RiverSmart Rewards Program. The Simple Application is easier to use than the Standard Application because it does not require specific technical design and site information.
