Coal Tar Ban Effectively Removes Toxic Chemicals from Environment

Washington, DC – The District Department of the Environment (DDOE) announced today that 803,031 square feet of coal tar pavement sealant have been remediated from 13 privately-owned parking lots as a result of its enforcement actions under the District’s ban on coal tar pavement products.

On Saturday, June 21 DDOE will host an exhibit and information table at the 6th Annual DC Housing Expo & Home Show. The event takes place 10:00am-3:00pm at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt Vernon Pl NW, Washington, DC 20001. Approximately 100 exhibitors will be on hand to discuss housing related services. Hosted by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), in partnership with the Greater Washington Urban League.

HSC Health Care System June Fair – Family and Community Health Expo
On Saturday, June 14th look for the DDOE exhibit and information table at Health Care System’s Annual June Fair - Family & Community Health Expo. The event takes place from 10:00am -4:00pm at 1731 Bunker Hill Road, NE. Washington, DC 20017. The Expo will feature mobile health units, screenings, healthy cooking demonstrations, exercise demonstrations, live entertainment, children’s activities and more. Shuttle services will be provided from the Brookland Metro Station.
