DDOE will host an exhibit and general information table at the Ward 7 Senior community Resources and Diabetes Symposium.
The event takes place from 9:00am – 11:30am at the Washington Seniors Wellness Center, 3001 Alabama Avenue SE.
Attendees can take advantage of informative sessions on: managing or preventing diabetes, nutrition facts and exercise instruction.

DDOE will host an exhibit and information table at the United Planning Organization’s Senior Housing Conference & Expo.
Various vendors will be on hand to provide information on tenant rights, housing assistance, energy assistance, estate planning, emergency preparedness and lots more. Nearly 200 seniors are expected.
*Free and open to DC residents 50 years or older. Valid ID and proof of DC residency is required.
DDOE will host an exhibit and information table at America Recycles Day. Agency program representatives will be on hand to provide information (for businesses and residents) about Hazardous Waste, Used Oil and Universal Waste (old florescent lamps and batteries).
DDOE will participate in the Ward 8 Senior Community and Diabetes Symposium. The event takes place from 8:30am until 1:00pm at the Congress Heights Senior Center, 3500 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE Washington DC. DDOE staff members will host an exhibit table and take part in a panel discussion to provide attendees with information on various DDOE programs and services.

This event will be structured to promote the various DDOE grant opportunities that we offer to the community at large. The event will consist of an overview of our granting process, along with a slide presentation of the various granting programs and projects. Program representatives will deliver a presentation, and then make themselves available to speak with interested community members.

On Thursday, October 9th DDOE will participate in the 2014 Mayor’s Annual Disability Awareness Expo. Look for our Air Quality Division’s exhibit and information table, and our Lead and Healthy Housing Division’s table where lead testing will be offered for children up to 6 years of age. The event will take place from 10:00am – 3:00pm at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G Street, NW, Great Hall Washington, DC 20001.
The District of Columbia Government, the Community of Forest Hills, the National Park Service, and the Embassy of Peru will be celebrating the completion of the Broad Branch and Linnean Park Stream Restoration Projects.

The District Department of the Environment (DDOE) cordially invites you to a public meeting on September 10, 2014 to discuss issues related to the use of the Alternative Compliance Payments (ACP) collected for solar initiatives in the District of Columbia. A working group comprised of District residents, solar installers and community stakeholders will lead the meeting and will develop recommended options to allocate the ACP funds in a method that will best encourage the development of new solar installations.
Join us September 18 at the District Department of the Environment for a community meeting on climate change planning across the District.
The District Department of the Environment, along with guest speakers from the DC Climate & Urban Systems Partnership and the National Capital Planning Commission, will provide updates on how District agencies, Federal agencies and community organizations are taking action to reduce carbon emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change.
